New York man dead after crash in heavy rain on Route 6 in Pike County

A New York man was killed Saturday in a car crash in Pike County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Fredric D. Underhill, 78, of Maryknoll, was westbound on Route 6 in Palmyra Township when he crossed over into the oncoming lane while on a curve. His 2017 Jeep Compass hit a 2017 GMC Acadia driven by Craig A. Thumann, 47, of Beach Lake.

Underhill died at the scene, police said. Thumann was taken by EMS to a hospital.

Heavy rain was falling at the time of the crash, shortly before 9:30 a.m.
