‘No Kings’ rallies planned in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage

Must read

Coachella Valley residents will be joining the millions expected to demonstrate against the Trump administration across the United States on what’s been dubbed “No Kings Day” this weekend.

The national day of action is on Saturday, which is also President Donald Trump’s birthday, Flag Day and the United States Army’s 250th anniversary. There will be a large military parade in Washington, D.C., that will include armored vehicles and thousands of troops for the occasion.

No Kings Day is “in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies” and asserts that Americans “don’t put up with would-be kings,” according to its website. There are dozens of protests planned in California.

“They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services,” organizers say on the website. “The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”

There will be three protests held in the valley in the cities of Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs. Other nearby rallies will be in Beaumont, Joshua Tree and Idyllwild. Here’s what to know about the valley protests:
