An off-duty police officer was injured Monday morning in a shooting in West Lawn, according to Chicago police.
The officer exchanged gunfire with multiple armed suspects in the 3700 block of West 67th Place around 4:18 a.m., police said. The suspects then entered a dark-colored sedan and fled the scene, driving westbound. The officer sustained a minor injury and was transported to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The officer will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum period of 30 days, police said. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the shooting and asks that anyone with additional information contacts them at 312-746-3609 or visit their website.
