A police officer suffered leg fractures while apprehending a man who allegedly resisted arrest after causing a disturbance at a go-kart track in Wallingford on Wednesday.
Tevin Robles, 28, faces four counts of interfering with an officer and a single count each of assault on public safety personnel, second-degree breach of peace and first-degree criminal mischief, according to Chief John Ventura of the Wallingford Police Department.
Ventura said officers responded to On-Trak Karting at 984 N. Colony Road around 7:30 p.m. on the report of an intoxicated individual arguing with employees and behaving aggressively toward patrons. Once police arrived, Ventura said, Robles allegedly charged at an officer’s cruiser.
Ventura noted that Robles is on probation and alleges that he was uncooperative with the officers as he attempted to leave the scene while they were speaking to him. Ventura said Robles also allegedly resisted and struggled with police.
During the struggle, an officer suffered a broken tibia and fibula and was taken to a hospital, according to Ventura. The officer had to undergo surgery.
Ventura said Robles remained uncooperative once he was placed in a cruiser, where he allegedly caused damage when he kicked out a window frame. He was also not compliant once he was taken to the police department, Ventura said.
Robles was held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 16, according to Ventura.
