A substitute teacher for Brevard Public Schools was arrested May 9 on the campus of Palm Bay Magnet High for allegedly sharing a nude photo of himself with a student.
Ajani J. McPherson, 27, was arrested by Palm Bay police on felony charges of transmitting information harmful to minors and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. McPherson was booked at the Brevard County Jail Complex and remained in jail May 10, with bond set at $52,500.
School district officials confirmed the arrest in a prepared statement.

“I can confirm that a substitute teacher at Palm Bay Magnet High, Ajani McPherson, was arrested at school on Friday for allegedly sharing a nude photo of himself with a female student,” said spokeswoman Janet Murnaghan.
“We are deeply troubled by these accusations and working closely with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. These actions are a tremendous violation of trust.
“Mr. McPherson was not a regular substitute teacher; he hadn’t been at Palm Bay Magnet High for a month when yesterday’s arrest happened. Effective immediately he is no longer employed by Brevard Public Schools. For more information about this active investigation please contact the Palm Bay Police Department.”
A June 3 court date has been set for the charge of transmitting information harmful to minors. No court date has been set on the second charge.
