Passaic County suburb named among the hottest homebuying ZIP codes in the nation for 2025

Must read

What is on your homebuying must-have list? For many people across the nation, it’s a suburban neighborhood that offers more living space and lifestyle flexibility while still providing convenient ties to cities.

This is according to Realtor.com’s annual ranking of the nation’s top 10 hottest homebuying ZIP codes in 2025. And this year’s list features two New Jersey ZIP codes that have been hotspots for buyers so far this year, including one in North Jersey.

Marlton’s 08053 and Wayne’s 07470 were named the second and fifth-hottest homebuying ZIP codes, respectively, in the country.

The ranking, which limited the list to one ZIP code per metro area, said these ZIP codes had high buyer demand, with a lot of unique viewers per each property for sale, and fast-selling homes from January to June 2025.

Marlton’s 08053 ZIP code, a suburb in Burlington County, ranked just below No. 1 Beverly, Massachusetts (01915). Homes in the area, which is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area, have a median listing price of $495,000 and stay on the market for about 17 days, according to the report. And 52.2% of the market’s property viewers are from outside its metro area.

Situated in Passaic County, Wayne’s 07470 ZIP code boasts a median listing price $664,000 — the third-highest on the list, the report said. Homes here also stay on the market for about 22 days, and 19.3% of the market’s property viewers are from outside the New York metro area.

“In high-cost metros like Boston and New York, ZIPs such as 01915 (Beverly, MA) and 07470 (Wayne, NJ) offered a compelling mix of lifestyle appeal and cost savings when compared to city-center prices,” Realtor.com said. “These locations represent a sweet spot for shoppers who want suburban amenities and proximity to jobs without paying top-tier metro premiums.”

The report also included a more extensive list of the top 50 hottest homebuying ZIP codes in the nation, which also included Trenton’s 08619 ZIP code in the 41st spot. The Mercer County market has a median listing price of $406,000 and homes stay on the market for about 28 days.

Northeast leads 10 hottest ZIP codes for homebuying

The Northeast makes up seven of the 10 hottest homebuying ZIP codes in the nation so far in 2024, according to the report.

Outside of Marlton and Wayne, this includes No. 1 Beverly, Massachusetts (01915); No. 3 Leominster, Massachusetts (01453); No. 7 Trumbull, Connecticut (06611); No. 8 Cumberland, Rhode Island (02864); and No. 9 South Windsor, Connecticut (06074).

“For the third consecutive year, the South and West were absent from the list. Instead, the Northeast and Midwest dominated, reflecting continued demand in regions where supply is constrained,” Realtor.com said. “Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut and Ohio each contributed two ZIPs to this year’s list.”
