Jun. 12—A state contractor plans to begin resurfacing the entirety of Interstate 65 in Morgan County starting Monday evening, weather permitting.
The Alabama Department of Transportation’s $16.1 million project will resurface from Hurricane Creek, north of Vinemont in Cullman County, to 1 mile south of the Interstate 565 interchange (Exit 340) in Limestone County.
The contractor, Rogers Group, will resurface the total of 23.4 miles of interstate in two main phases.
First, Rogers Group will resurface the segment south of Alabama 36 in Hartselle this year. Resurfacing north of Alabama 36 will follow in 2026. — Nightly lane closures
To reduce traffic impacts, most work requiring lane closures will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. ALDOT advises motorists to expect delays due to single-lane closures.
Initial milling and paving operations will begin north of Lacon (Exit 318) in southern Morgan County.
