A North Palm Beach man was recently arrested by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies as curious onlookers watched on Peruvian Avenue in Palm Beach.
The 47-year-old man was taken into custody about 9:30 a.m. May 30 and faces charges of molestation of a victim younger than 12 years old by a person older than 18 and sexual assault of a child by a custodian or family member, according to jail records. He was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on June 3 without bond, jail records show.
The team that took the man into custody just west of Hibiscus Avenue was with the PBSO division that executes arrest warrants, an agency spokeswoman confirmed.
The Daily News is not identifying the man to protect the identity of the victim. A Daily News journalist was on Worth Avenue and captured video of the arrest that showed a handful of people looking on, along with a woman who appeared to record video of the man being handcuffed by deputies.
The man wore a dark blue T-shirt, dark shorts, black sneakers and a black cap, the video showed.
The Palm Beach Police Department was not involved in the operation, said Major John Scanlan.
According to an arrest report, the North Palm Beach man sexually abused the victim starting from when the victim was 10 until 16 years old.
