A woman in a crosswalk was killed when she was hit by a pickup truck at the roundabout where routes 42 and 17 merge in Sullivan County.
New York State Police said the collision happened just after 4:10 p.m. Sept. 18.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Ford pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old man from Shohola, Pennsylvania, was southbound on Route 42 in the Town of Thompson when it approached the yield sign at the roundabout.
As the pickup truck entered the roundabout and attempted to take the first exit to merge onto the Route 17 westbound on-ramp, it struck a pedestrian who was crossing in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian, identified as Ken Ghana Parsons, 56, of Monticello, suffered life-threatening injuries.
Life-saving measures were administered on the scene, and then Parsons was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskills in Harris, where she was later pronounced dead.
State police said their investigation is continuing.
