A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle in Highland Park Friday night.
The male pedestrian was near Figueroa Street and Woodside Drive area when he was struck by an LAPD car shortly before 7:30 p.m., police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and was believed to be between 30-35 years old, the L.A. Times reported.
Crowds of visitors could be seen attending a carnival filled with rides at the nearby Sycamore Grove Park.

Video from the scene showed the victim’s body was covered by a canopy as officers closed nearby roads to investigate. It’s unclear whether the officer was responding to a call during the deadly incident.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation. No further details, including the victim’s name, were released.
