A 38-year-old Pensacola man pleaded guilty in federal court to trafficking fentanyl, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Aug. 29.

Corderrius McShane pleaded guilty to distribution of more than 40 grams of fentanyl, possession with the intent to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“I applaud the excellent work of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and our federal ATF and DEA agents to make our community safer by getting this dangerous individual off the streets,” U.S. Attorney John Heekin said.

McShane distributed 55.6 grams of fentanyl in November 2024, and during a traffic stop that same month law enforcement discovered he had over 230 grams of fentanyl and a loaded firearm.

He has previous felony convictions of cocaine possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, 2 milligrams of fentanyl are considered a lethal dose. 230 grams would be enough to kill roughly 115,000 people.

McShane is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 4. He faces up to life in federal prison.
