Police identify man killed after shooting in Chesapeake’s Deep Creek South neighborhood

CHESAPEAKE — Police have identified a man who was shot and killed Sunday afternoon.

Jesse Andre Thomas, a 57-year-old Portsmouth resident, died in the hospital following a shooting in the 2300 block of Angler Lane, according to police.

Just after 2:10 p.m., police responded to the neighborhood, which sits along New Mill Creek in the city’s Deep Creek South area.

Responding officers found Thomas with life-threatening injuries and took him to a local hospital.

The shooter has been detained but no charges have been filed, according to a release.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details have been released.
