DNA evidence links a Camden man to a 14-year-old murder in the city, authorities said.
Kenyar Hill, 46, is accused of killing Brian Holden, a 42-year-old city man, during a dispute after having sex with the victim’s girlfriend, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
The girlfriend told investigators that she met the suspect on the evening of Oct. 11, 2011, and that she agreed to have sex for $10, a probable cause statement says.

The woman brought the suspect to the front of the house on the 500 block of Mechanic Street in Bergen Square, the prosecutor’s office said. Holden, who lived in the building with the woman, remained in the rear of the building.
The woman said she argued with the man after their encounter, and he took his money back. The woman yelled for Holden, who then was stabbed repeatedly during an altercation shortly before 10 p.m., the prosecutor’s office said.
DNA evidence was recovered during a sexual assault examination, but no match was found in a national database at that time, the prosecutor’s office said. But in 2022 the database showed a potential match with Hill.
“These results required further confirmation,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
It said a DNA sample obtained from Hill in 2023 further matched the sample in the database. Detectives “continued to follow up on the investigation, including locating witnesses from more than a decade ago,” the statement said.
Hill was arrested in Camden on June 27. He is being held on a murder charge in Camden County Jail.
The charge against Hill is only an allegation. He has not been convicted in the case.
