Police seek gunman after 34-year-old shot at Lubbock motel

Police say a 34-year-old was seriously injured and a gunman is at large following a shooting Friday evening in a Lubbock motel.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired about 6:46 p.m. Friday at the Executive Inn in the 4400 block of Avenue Q found 34-year-old Keyarie Wartson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

She was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center.

Investigators believe Wartson was shot by an unknown male at the location. Wartson then fled to a nearby room seeking help. Other information about the circumstances of the shooting and exactly where it occurred in the motel were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing. A suspect description was also not immediately available.

The Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000. Callers could be eligible for a reward and can remain anonymous.
