The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help locating a 22-year-old man who is wanted on a charge of murder in connection with a deadly shooting early Monday in north Lubbock.
Police late Tuesday announced that Victor Yanez is wanted on a murder charge in connection with the killing of 28-year-old Joshua Rios.

Officers initially responded to a report of shots fired at 2:08 a.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Clovis Road. Upon arrival, officers found Rios, with serious injuries, according to a statement from Lubbock police. EMS transported Rios to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police by Tuesday had identified Yanez as a suspect and an active arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police said Yanez is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
