Pope Leo offers ‘sincere condolences’ to all families, victims in deadly Texas floods

Pope Leo XIV extended condolences and prayers on Sunday for the victims of the deadly floods in Texas and their families.

“I would like to express sincere condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones, in particular their daughters who were at summer camp, in the disaster caused by flooding of the Guadalupe River in Texas in the United States,” the pope said in English. “We pray for them.”

At least 59 people, including 21 children, have died in flooding along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County. Eleven children from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ camp in Hunt in western Kerr County, remain missing as of Sunday.
