Pregnant woman on the verge of missing flight, “hero” pilot intervenes

Must read

Tight connections are never any fun, but this is especially true when your previous flight is delayed and you happen to be seven months pregnant. This is exactly the situation that recently unfolded at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Brittany Kamerman was traveling with seven friends to celebrate her friend’s 30th birthday in Panama City Beach, Florida. Kammerman told Newsweek the group had a 45-minute layover in DFW, but unfortunately, their initial flight from Salt Lake City was delayed, making it almost certain they would miss their connection.

They landed 30 minutes before their next flight was scheduled to take off. Unfortunately, DFW is a huge airport, and the next gate was an 18-minute walk away. Nevertheless, Kamerman hoofed it to the plane with the rest of her group trailing behind her. One of her friends, Kiley, was seven months pregnant and was understandably moving more slowly than usual.

Kamerman made it to the gate and began pleading with the American Airlines gate agents to hold the doors until her friends arrived. Unfortunately, they refused, even though she informed them that one of her friends was pregnant. As a last resort, Kamerman walked onto the plane to see if she could find someone else to intervene.

The pilot happened to hear Kamerman explain the circumstances to the flight attendant on board and asked for more details. When he learned of the situation, he was willing to help. Kamerman told Newsweek that he said, “Well, they won’t leave without me,” as he stepped off the plane to wait for her friends and personally escort them on board.

The joyous group was filmed approaching the gate and running down the flybridge in a TikTok video posted by Kamerman (@brittanykamerman). In the video, Kamerman describes the pilot as “Our hero.”

A viral TikTok

The video has already garnered over a million views, and the commenters are inclined to agree. One notable comment posted by @goddessdoctor, said, “As someone who used to work for an airline good on the pilot because they’re really the only ones who can do this. the gate agent can’t make that call.”

It’s true that some heroes don’t wear capes. This one wears wings instead.
