Rain to come and go for Central Florida for July 3rd and 4th

There’s a good chance it will rain some in Central Florida both today and on the Fourth of July, but it won’t be an all-day event, according to the National Weather Service.

A stalled front that is moving into North Florida is bringing a lot of moisture to the area keeping the region under a tropical airmass.

“Greatest coverage of rain/storms will be in the afternoon/early evening but scattered showers will occur overnight and in the morning as well,” the NWS stated in its daily forecast.

That means a 70-80% chance for precipitation Thursday, which drops some on Friday. Some areas could get 1-3 inches, but severe weather chances will be limited.

“It is important to note that while rain chances are high, these will not be all-day rains though some areas will see 2 or more rounds of rain,” forecasters said.

Because of cloud cover, highs will be in the upper 80s with heat indexes because of humidity pushing the feels-like temperatures to the mid to upper 90s.

A low pressure area is forecast to form off the Jacksonville coast but then move to the northeast, which will drop rain chances for the area by Sunday.

“High rain chances are forecast to continue Saturday then decrease Sunday and beyond but only back to more seasonable (climatological) norms of 40-60%,” forecasters said.
