Randolph suspect located with help of FBI, charged with Randolph, Quincy armed robberies

A suspect who fled the scene of an armed robbery at a Randolph gas station Tuesday, Aug. 26 — causing two police cruisers to collide in their pursuit of him — was located and arrested Wednesday, Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag said in a written statement.

The Randolph Police Department located and arrested a 32-year-old Randolph man Wednesday, Aug. 27 in connection with two armed robberies over the last week, police said. He was charged with two counts of armed and masked robbery with a firearm, according to the statement.

The suspect was also connected to an armed robbery in Quincy, for which he will face additional charges, the statement said.

“The professionalism of our officers, the hard work of our detectives and their teamwork with our fellow law enforcement agencies resulted in a dangerous criminal being taken off the streets,” Marag said as he thanked the Quincy Police Department and the FBI Violent Crime Task Force for their assistance in locating the suspect.

The suspect allegedly robbed the AI Prime gas station, located at 203 Union St. in Randolph, wearing a black mask and armed with a semiautomatic handgun on Saturday, Aug. 23 at around 8:15 p.m., the statement said. The suspect allegedly fled the scene on foot.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, the suspect is accused of robbing the Prestige gas station, located at 1201 North Main St. in Randolph, at approximately 1:21 p.m. He again wore a black mask and was armed with a semiautomatic handgun, according to the statement.

He fled the scene in a gray Hyundai Elantra, the statement said.

Later that day, the Quincy Police Department said the West Squantum Market and Liquor Store, located at 205 West Squantum St. in Quincy, was robbed at gunpoint by a masked man who fled in a gray Hyundai Elantra.

Joint federal and local investigation leads to arrest

With the help of detectives from the Quincy Police Department and members of the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, Randolph police located the suspect Wednesday at around 8:45 a.m. on North Main Street driving the gray Hyundai Elantra seen at two of the scenes, according to the statement.

Police also uncovered a handgun, a large amount of cash and a baseball cap matching one worn by the suspect in the Randolph robberies.
