Recount does not change winner in extremely close Taunton, Easton state rep race

The recount of the election between Democrat Lisa Field and Republican Larry Quintal has confirmed the initial official results of the June 10, 2025, state representative race — with Field the winner.

Per the initial official results, Field won the election by 17 votes. After a recount, which was held on Monday June 30, 2025, in Easton and Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Taunton, the gap between Field and Quintal narrowed to 15 votes, but Field still has the majority of the votes and is the victor in the election.

Middleboro welcomes two new police officers to the department

Two new officers have joined the Middleboro Police Department:

Corey B. Bailey and Victoria J. O’Day, both Middleboro residents, were appointed to the department by the Middleboro Select Board on June 16.

Taunton hotel to be sold to Hilton

The Clarion Hotel in Taunton, which was previously used as an emergency shelter by the state, is being renovated and is in the process of being sold to Hilton, Taunton Economic and Community Development Director Jay Pateakos said in a July 1, 2025, social media post.
