EVANSVILLE — Indiana State Rep. Alex Burton, D-Evansville, will hold a town hall meeting May 20 at the Dream Center in Jacobsville.
The public event will last from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Dream Center is located at 1516 N. Main St.
Burton’s office can be reached via H77@iga.in.gov if there are specific topics constituents want addressed in his legislative recap.
“Though the legislative session is over, there are still a lot of conversations happening that are intended to move Indiana forward,” Burton stated in an event description.
Burton is the first local state legislator to announce a post-session town hall.
Locals want to see elected officials in person
Burton’s town hall comes as local residents have been clamoring for accountability and town halls from their elected officials.
Congressman Mark Messmer, R-Indiana, has received much of the focus as he has continued to refuse to meet with constituents in a public setting, and has ignored questions from the Courier & Press.
Last week, Messmer held a “tele-town hall” which left many local residents disappointed in the process and results.
