New Delhi, September 13, 2024 – RPI National Organization General Secretary Dr. Rajeev Menon has expressed strong opposition to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement suggesting that he should visit America and propose ending the reservation system in India. Dr. Menon emphasized that the reservation system, as enshrined in the Constitution by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, is a fundamental right for Dalit, Tribal, OBC, and other backward communities, and it cannot be abolished.

Dr. Menon declared, “As long as the sun and the moon exist, so will the Constitution of India, along with the reservation system.” He also announced plans for a nationwide protest to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s statement, emphasizing that no leader has the authority to undermine the rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.

The controversy arose following Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with students at Georgetown University in the United States. In response to a question on how long reservations would continue, Gandhi remarked that when India achieves social justice, he would consider abolishing the reservation system.

In response to Gandhi’s remarks, Dr. Menon highlighted the suspicious nature of recent visits by Congress leaders, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, to the U.S. He suggested that there might be attempts to sabotage upcoming elections, casting doubts on the integrity of the opposition’s actions.

RPI, along with Republican Party National President and Union Social Justice Minister Ramdas Athawale, has called for widespread protests, starting from Delhi and spreading across the country. These protests aim to safeguard the reservation system and resist any attempts to dismantle India’s federal structure.
