New Delhi, October 2, 2024 – Dr. Rajeev Menon, National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India (RPI), has called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to honor his election promise of making Delhi a liquor-free state. Dr. Rajeev Menon raised this demand during his address at a Gandhi Jayanti event held in New Delhi, emphasizing that the Chief Minister must fulfill his commitment before the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections.

In his speech, Dr. Rajeev Menon reminded the audience of the promises made by Kejriwal when he first came to power. “He assured the voters of Delhi that he would prohibit the sale of alcohol and transform Delhi into a liquor-banned state. However, today, we see Delhi involved in multiple liquor scams, betraying the trust of its people.”

Dr. Rajeev Menon expressed his concern over the increase in alcohol-related issues in the capital, which have led to social and economic distress. “The misuse of alcohol is a major cause of concern for the health and well-being of Delhi’s citizens. It is time for the government to take action, as it had originally promised.”

The RPI leader stressed that if CM Kejriwal does not take immediate steps to enforce the liquor ban before the 2025 elections, the party will launch a strong protest. Dr. Menon announced plans to organize a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar to pressurize the government into keeping its word.

The event witnessed enthusiastic support from attendees, with many backing the call for a liquor-free Delhi. Dr. Menon’s firm stance has set the stage for a potential mass movement if the government fails to respond to his demand.

RPI (Athawale) continues to fight for the well-being of the people, aligning its goals with the welfare and betterment of Delhi’s society. Dr. Menon’s leadership has further strengthened the party’s commitment to this cause.
