The mother of slain Milwaukee college student Sade Carleena Robinson told a judge her family was not given information on where convicted killer Maxwell Anderson was recently transferred.
Anderson was supposed to attend a hearing on Oct. 1 to decide how much in restitution he will be ordered to pay after a jury convicted him in Robinson’s April 2, 2024, killing.

Technical difficulties between Circuit Court Judge Laura Crivello’s courtroom and the still-unknown facility where Anderson, 34, is being held prompted the judge to postpone the hearing to Oct. 16.
Sheena Scarbrough, who attended remotely, expressed frustration over not being told Anderson’s current location. She called the delay the latest source of pain for her family, now 18 months into grieving her daughter’s vicious killing.
“Certain individuals were transferred out of state. I was not given certain information,” she said. “Do I need to contact my governor? You know, my mayor? Because I don’t know the protocol as a crime victim.”

Anderson and Robinson, a 19-year-old criminal justice studies major at Milwaukee Area Technical College, had shared texts before meeting in downtown Milwaukee for a first date on April 1, 2024. A walker found a leg belonging to Robinson in Warnimont Park the next day.
More body parts belonging to Robinson began turning up elsewhere in the days and weeks that followed, in the Milwaukee area and in Waukegan, Illinois.
Anderson was ordered to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported last week Anderson had been transferred from Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun to an unknown, out-of-state prison.
Online records from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections show Anderson was transferred out of state Sept. 17 after spending just over a month in the state prison.
The Waupun prison is a maximum-security institution that serves as a central reception center for all adult male inmates sentenced to prison. Records show Anderson moved there Aug. 4, three days after his sentencing.
Scarbrough told the judge she had other things she wanted to accomplish that “have to do with my daughter’s legacy,” adding delaying Anderson’s restitution stretched out her family’s agony.
“This is my first time walking through this system as a crime victim. So, like now, we have to be prolonged again with this demon that murdered my baby,” she said.

Anderson and his father, Steven Anderson, also are defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Scarbrough on behalf of her daughter’s estate. A motion hearing in that matter was scheduled for Oct. 13.
Maxwell Anderson has signaled in recent court filings his intention to appeal his criminal conviction.
