Investigators are looking for a cruel archer who has left at least two wild donkeys wandering with arrows embedded in their bodies in Riverside County, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office’s Moreno Valley Station have recently responded to two incidents of wild donkeys, or burros, being discovered wandering with arrow wounds, the agency said in a written statement.
“These troubling acts are being taken very seriously and deputies are actively assisting the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Riverside County Department of Animal Services in efforts to locate the injured animals and ensure they receive prompt veterinary care,” according to the statement.
At least two wild donkeys were found shot with arrows in Moreno Valley, sheriff’s officials reported on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
“We remind the public that harming a donkey—or any animal—is a criminal offense,” the statement continued. “The safety and welfare of animals in our community is a priority, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable.”
