SANFORD, Maine — The Sanford Police Department is once again bringing the community together for National Night Out, and this year, they’re teaming up with the Sanford Mainers for an evening of baseball, family fun, and community connection.

The event will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Goodall Park. Gates open at 5:30 pm, with the first pitch being thrown at 6:30 pm. Families are invited to enjoy a free Sanford Mainers game while participating in a variety of family-friendly activities, including local vendors, a fast-pitch machine, and a photo booth, all alongside the officers who serve the Sanford community.

“National Night Out is all about bringing the community together, and there’s no better backdrop for that than a Sanford Mainers game,” said Police Chief Eric Small. “It’s small-town America at its best, families in the stands, kids high-fiving officers, and a reminder that public safety works best when it’s a team effort.”

This year marks a new partnership between the Sanford Police Department and the Sanford Mainers, one that emphasizes shared values of community pride and teamwork.

“Our department looks forward to seeing our community at this event,” Small added. “This year is even more exciting because of our new partnership. Having National Night Out alongside the Sanford Mainers just makes sense. They’re a team that represents our city with pride, and so do we. When the police and the community are in the same dugout, we all win.”

National Night Out is a nationwide initiative celebrated annually in cities and towns across the country. Its goal is to promote strong relationships between residents and local law enforcement, reinforce neighborhood spirit, and enhance public safety through collaboration and trust.

“While community engagement is always a priority for our officers, National Night Out gives us a special opportunity to come together, celebrate the relationships we’ve built throughout the year, and strengthen the sense of trust and community spirit that makes Sanford such a special place,” said Small.
