Sarasota Police arrest local doctor for sexual battery on patient

Must read

The Sarasota Police Department has arrested a local doctor and charged him with sexual battery after a patient claimed he inappropriately touched her, according to a press release. Detectives, meanwhile, believe there may be other victims.

Court records show Stephen Feig, 66, was arrested on April 18. At the time of the arrest, Feig was the director of the Brain Wave Center in Sarasota. According to the center’s website, which is no longer accessible, Feig specialized in non-drug treatments for trauma, depression and PTSD.

In the spring of 2023, according to the probable cause affidavit, Feig was helping the victim deal with past sexual trauma and during one of their first treatments made her repeat, “I am safe. Dr. Feig cares about me and won’t hurt me.”

Some of the meetings took place at Feig’s Sarasota apartment, where he touched her inappropriately so she could get used to being touched again, court records state. Feig also told the victim she would need to have an intimate relationship with him as part of the treatment and asked that she reenact a prior rape as he touched her intimately and against her will, records show. Feig denied the allegations to detectives.

In December 2023, court records show, Feig was arrested in a different case and charged with battery for inappropriately touching a victim while taking her blood pressure. That case is set for trial next month.
