More scorching high temperatures are forecast throughout east Central Florida, with heat advisories and extreme heat warnings issued for Daytona Beach, Flagler Beach, Palm Coast and elsewhere in Volusia and Flagler counties by the National Weather Service.
A heat advisory is in effect from noon-7 p.m. Monday, July 28, for Daytona Beach and other areas throughout east Central Florida, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
Temperatures as high as 93-100 degrees coupled with humidity will produce heat index values ranging from 106-112 degrees. Those who must be outdoors are urged to keep hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade and wear light clothing.
Extreme heat warning issued for Bunnell, inland Flagler County
In Flagler County, an extreme heat warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville from noon-7 p.m. Monday, July 28, for inland areas that include Bunnell. Dangerously hot conditions are forecast to generate heat index values up to 110 degrees, the NWS states.

Those in the area are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms when possible, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
It’s also crucial to not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes, the NWS advises.
Those who must be outside are urged to take extra precautions.

Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke appear.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location and 911 should be called, the advisory states.
How hot was it this weekend in Daytona Beach, Flagler?
No records were broken in Volusia County over the weekend, although high temperatures were roughly 3-4 degrees above normal levels for this time of year, said Zach Law, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
In Daytona Beach, the high temperature at Daytona Beach International Airport reached 94 degrees, short of the record of 98 degrees set in 1992, according to NWS records.
Other high temperatures countywide on Sunday reached 91 in New Smyrna Beach, 95 in DeLand and 93 in Ormond Beach, according to NWS.
A heat advisory has been issued on Monday, July 28, by the National Weather Service for areas that include Volusia and Flagler counties.
In Flagler County, a high temperature of 93 degrees was reported at Flagler Executive Airport in Palm Coast.
“That’s still pretty warm,” Law said. “There’s a high-pressure system overhead and when that happens it causes sinking air, and as it sinks, it warms. Add above normal humidity from the oceans and the heat index can get above 108.”
When will extreme heat end in Daytona Beach, nearby areas?
Higher-than-normal temperatures are expected to continue through midweek, although rain chances that could lower temperatures will increase slightly starting Tuesday, July 29, Law said.

“We’re looking at coastal rain chances of about 20%, with a 30% chance inland,” he said. “There will be maybe more of a wet pattern starting on Wednesday that will bring a little bit of relief, but we’re still staying pretty toasty.
“We expect temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s inland, so the heat looks to stay around. We hope those scattered showers will offer some relief, but not everywhere will get them.”
