Must read

Jul. 3—The next phase of the resurfacing project on Alabama 67/Beltline Road Southwest is scheduled to begin Sunday, the state announced Thursday.

Alabama Department of Transportation contractor Grayson Carter and Son Contracting is finishing the first phase, the southern section of the Beltline between U.S.31/Sixth Avenue and Danville Road.

The second phase of the Beltline paving is the section between Danville Road and Gordon Terry Parkway/Alabama 24.

ALDOT spokesman Seth Burkett said Grayson Carter expects to begin Sunday with patching and milling this northern segment of the project. Simultaneously, the contractor will continue paving intersections, crossovers and turn lanes on the southern segment of the project.

Motorists should expect lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, Sunday nights through Thursday nights. A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open.

ALDOT advises motorists to reduce speed in the work zone and remain especially cautious when crossing at intersections or entering turn lanes and crossovers. Additionally, traffic signals may experience disruptions to normal operations during the resurfacing process.
