The presence of Joann stores across Michigan will be drastically reduced as the troubled fabric and craft retailer begins to shutter one-third of all of its stores by the end of April.
After the company filed for bankruptcy in January 2025 — its second filing in 11 months — all of Joann’s assets were won in a February 2025 auction by retail liquidator GA Group and Joann’s term lenders. Subsequently, most locations began going-out-of-business sales.
Fourteen Joann stores in Michigan are among the 255 locations expected to close nationwide by the end of April, according to Jo Anne McCusker, a GA Group spokesperson. The remainder of the craft retailer’s 800 stores will close by the end of May.
