Two people have died and at least six are injured following a shooting on Florida State University’s campus Thursday morning.
The university announced at 3:30 p.m. that “law enforcement has neutralized the threat” but warned that multiple buildings were still “active crime scenes.”
During a press conference, Tallahassee officials named student Pheonix Ilkner as the shooter, adding he is the son of a Leon County Sheriff’s deputy and used his parent’s firearm in the shooting. Law enforcement did shoot Ikner.
“This is a tragic day for Florida State University,” said FSU President Richard McCullough. “We’re absolutely heartbroken by the violence.”

An initial alert from FSU at 12:01 p.m. reported the shooter in the area of Student Union.

Where can FSU students go if they are injured after shooting?
Officials stated that those needing immediate emergency assistance should call 9-1-1 or FSUPD at 850-644-1234.
Students who need assistance can go to the Donald L. Tucker Center where the university is providing counseling, health care, and other support services. Family members are also able to go to the Tucker Center for assistance.

During the press conference, FBI-Jacksonville announced they are seeking information on the shooting and shared a website for those to go to.
