The rainy part of the work week kicks in Tuesday, the National Weather Service said, and a few severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening.

When is severe weather possible in the Tri-State?
A frontal boundary will settle across the Ohio Valley by Tuesday evening, and that will act as a focal point for shower and storm development as impulses move along it, the National Weather Service said in a briefing.
Chances for severe storms increase Tuesday afternoon and evening, then come back Wednesday afternoon and then again on Thursday.
As for Tuesday’s outlook, the National Weather Service’s hour-by-hour forecast shows the highest chances for thunderstorms is between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
What types of severe weather are possible?
The main threat is for damaging wind gusts and hail. The tornado risk is relatively low, but does exist.
How much rain will fall in the Tri-State?
A half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain is expected on Tuesday. An inch and a half of rain is possible over the next three days.
