A man was killed outside Jacksonville’s popular Copeland’s restaurant on Southside Boulevard as police continue to investigate what led up the shooting.
People were screaming and running, one employee next door told Times-Union news partner First Coast News.
It happened in the parking lot about 2 p.m. after the victim met up with someone and was shot in the chest, the Sheriff’s Office said. Detectives were speaking with witnesses and also are looking for a black or dark-colored four-door vehicle, possibly a Nissan, that was at the scene.
The restaurant shut down for the day as police taped off the parking lot.
Jacksonville endured two other shootings the same day, one with four victims.
