Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti is a multi-dimensional personality on the Maharashtra political canvas who, with a serene approach and never-ending interest in service to society, combines it with a journey and trajectory from grassroots activity towards being one of the best in the BJP. Born on December 16, 1953, Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti was the product of a family deeply influenced by the principles of the RSS. At an early age, he began to be exposed to social service and patriotism. His father, the late Shri Madanlalji Sancheti, was a dedicated RSS worker, while his younger brother, the late Shri Kishanlalji Sancheti, served as an MLA for the Jansangh. This family legacy of political activism laid the foundations for Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti’s own journey in public life. Education began in Malakapur and continued in Nagpur, where he earned a B.Sc. from Dhanwate College and later an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry. Though he was busy with his full-time jobs, from the days of college, he remained active in political movements. He was actively working for elections to the All India Students’ Federation. His early political life and contact with leaders like the late Shri Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay helped shape his idealism and leadership style.
Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti started his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party. There, he became first a municipal councilor and later a five-time legislator from the Malakapur constituency in Buldhana district. A near-life-threatening accident in the early stages of his political career did not deter him; instead, it furthered his resolve to serve the people and made him more dedicated to social service. With his 25-year-long legislative career, Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti has been involved with various development programs for Malakapur and the Buldhana district. His prolific speaking skills in not only his native language of Marathi but also Hindi, Rajasthani, Tamil, and English make him a popular orator across the country, and thus, his influence within his party and among the people is phenomenal.
His work as an MLA has singularly focused on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and rural empowerment as icons for transformation. There have been several transformative projects that he led, primarily including the construction of an imposing Sub-Divisional Office building in Malakapur at a staggering ₹319 crore, which was followed by a new municipal council building, a commercial complex, and a court building, significantly upgrading the administrative capacity of the city. His leadership saw the upgrading of key roads, such as the Malakapur to Solapur road and the Malakapur Railway Station to Tehsil Square, which would make transportation relatively smoother and consequently boost economic activities. He has also been instrumental in the improvement of healthcare and education facilities. He initiated the construction of a sub-district hospital and a state-of-the-art ITI training center and hostel in the district.
Securing funding for critical water supply projects is probably one of Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti’s major contributions. These included the sanction for a water supply scheme in the village of Hingne Ghavad Tera worth ₹17 crore and ₹20 crore for water supply from the Knowledge Ganga River to the Nandura Water Supply Center, providing better access to clean water for urban and rural residents. In addition to these, he promoted sports and fitness, which is an exercise he undertook since he was a state-level wrestler and had been awarded the much-reputed ‘University Shree’ award. He erected a gymnasium in every village and large sports complexes at the taluka level, which attracted sportspersons and promoted health consciousness.
Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti also emerged more frequently in people’s notice during crises. In 1992, during the nationwide riots following the Ayodhya issue, he risked his life to protect Lal Krishna Advani, then one of the key BJP leaders, from a violent attack. His courage and timely thinking during that moment of crisis were reported and supported by news channels, which added further strength to the slogan of a leader who fights for his values at any cost. In 2001, following the devastating Gujarat earthquake, Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti began school reconstruction in Bhuj district. He was even recognized by the late Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti wasn’t motivated by such recognition; rather, it was the need to help people that kept him going.
Through all these years, Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti has maintained a relentless connection with the people. He has won five consecutive terms as MLA, marginally increasing his victory margins each time. In the 2014 election, he won by a margin of more than 26,000 votes. Such success is a testament to the trust and confidence the people have reposed in him. His philosophies in governance emphasize grassroots participation, transparency, and accountability, which have only helped to popularize him further.
Besides infrastructure and crisis management, it is more than those issues that Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti has been voicing: the rights of farmers and rural development. He has worked to secure loan waivers for the farmers, new high-tech agricultural technologies, and has ensured fair prices for the crops they produce, which have brought massive benefits to his people’s livelihoods. His work for the betterment of people is certainly indomitable; his vision for sustainable development and humility, coupled with dedication in leading, have emblazoned his legacy as a great and visionary leader.
As Shri Chainsukh Madanlal Sancheti served the people of Malakapur in Maharashtra for many more decades, his dedication to public service is sure to be remembered by generations.
