Oct. 11—A search for a Somerville man ended with his arrest Thursday on an attempted murder charge after he allegedly beat, strangled and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend, according to a Morgan County sheriff’s investigator’s affidavit.

Colton Ford Bone, 29, was transported to Morgan County Jail, where he remained Friday evening in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

Before his arrest, the Sheriff’s Office requested the public’s help in finding Bone, warning that he was “armed and dangerous.”

On Tuesday, deputies responded to a residence on Turney Ridge Road for a domestic violence call and made contact with the victim. Court records show Bone lived at the residence last year and had been in a former relationship with the victim.

“(The victim) told deputies that Bone arrived at her house and just walked inside and was intoxicated,” the affidavit said. “(The victim) said that he tried to have sex with her, and she said no and that she told him he was nasty.”

Following this remark, Bone grabbed a bottle of Dawn dish soap and hit the victim in the head before pouring the soap on her and all over her bedroom floor.

“He began to drag her from the bedroom to the bathroom, to the dining room, back to the bedroom, continuously, striking punches on (the victim’s) head and arms,” the affidavit said. “He told her the police couldn’t save her.”

The victim said Bone grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her neck and began to strangle her while telling her he was going to kill her several times. She said she then called 911 and Bone grabbed her phone and left her house. She told deputies she was in fear for her life.

“Bone has a history of domestic violence with (the victim) going back to 2023 to present,” the affidavit said.

In August 2021, Bone was charged with third-degree domestic violence and third-degree criminal mischief in Cullman County after allegedly punching the same victim in the face and choking her, according to a complaint filed in Cullman County District Court. The complaint said the victim was the mother of Bone’s child.

The case was dismissed without prejudice in November 2021 because the victim failed to appear in court.

In March 2024, Bone was charged again with third-degree domestic violence in Morgan County involving the same victim after he allegedly “made multiple phone calls and left messages threatening the victim,” according to a complaint filed in Morgan County District Court.

This case was dismissed in June 2024 after the victim again failed to appear in court.
