‘What readers said’ was appalling
• I was shocked to see the “R” word printed in “What Readers Said This Week” on June 7. Our school district runs a big campaign every March to “Spread the Word to End the Word.” Please adhere and promote.
• The “What Readers Said” section of the paper this Saturday was even more appalling than usual. Two of your commenters had no problem using the “R” word or a variation of it, and then the TC Line printed it for even more people to read. As I said before in a TC call you chose not to print, if people want to see what others have to say about a Times-Call article posted on Facebook, they can swim into the effluent-filled waters of that social media platform themselves. Why waste column inches on this? Absolutely appalling.
Government waste
In the federal government, if inspectors general in government agencies would do their jobs controlling spending, there would be no need for DOGE. Government waste without controls.
Next president
The next U.S. president will sure have their hands full reversing all of Trump’s revengeful, unlawful executive orders.
ICE under Trump
Protests in support of immigrants and their children have been nonviolent, whether at detention centers, ICE facilities, on the streets, and in Washington, D.C., where a few thousand marched from ICE headquarters to the White House. ICE under Trump is now sending out agents with full combat gear and with masks to homes of immigrants it incite fear. Immigrants, including those with legal status, are being detained and deported to highly dangerous places. Federal and state laws, as well as the U.S. Constitution, are being violated. This appears to be intentional, to invoke stronger responses so martial law can be used to suppress everyone’s rights.
