A 17-year-old boy was transported to an area hospital after he disappeared under the water on Sunday, July 20, at the beach at Learned Pond, according to a fire official.
The condition of the boy was unknown as of 5:30 p.m., Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Sullivan said.
Firefighters and police responded to Learned Beach on Shawmut Terrace at 3:02 p.m. after receiving a call about a missing swimmer, Sullivan said.
The Fire District 14 Dive Team responded to search for the teen, which included a Police Department scuba diver who searched underwater. Sullivan said the boy was found about 30 minutes after the initial call.

According to a Framingham Fire Department press release, the boy was found about 30 yards from shore. He was not breathing when he was brought to shore.

Rescue workers performed CPR on the teen while taking him to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, Sullivan said.
At the time of the incident, there were four staff members — including two lifeguards — on duty. A medical rescue helicopter landed at the scene, but it was determined to take the boy to MetroWest Medical Center.
