Aug. 10—A Tennessee vehicle pursuit crossed into Alabama late Friday night, leading to the arrest of a man accused of trafficking drugs and multiple other charges, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the Giles County (Tennessee) Sheriff’s Office alerted Limestone deputies on Aug. 8 about a fleeing vehicle entering Alabama. Limestone deputies and Ardmore police intercepted the driver, later identified as Jason Rose, as he crossed the state line.
Rose, driving a 3500 dually pickup truck, continued southbound on Interstate 65 while discarding items from the vehicle, officials said. Law enforcement deployed spike strips multiple times in Limestone and Morgan counties before bringing the pursuit to a stop just south of the I-65 bridge in Priceville.
Deputies said Rose was taken into custody without further incident. After the arrest, Limestone deputies returned to locations along the pursuit route where Rose was seen throwing objects and recovered about a quarter pound of methamphetamine. Additional evidence was found inside the vehicle, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said.
Rose is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance — LSD, unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree, possession of a pistol by a violent felon, attempting to elude law enforcement, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remains in the Limestone County Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing. Officials said Rose was already out on bond for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin credited the coordinated response from multiple agencies, including the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, Ardmore Police Department, Athens Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Priceville Police Department and Decatur Police Department.
“Together, we brought this pursuit to a safe conclusion and removed a dangerous individual from our community,” McLaughlin said.
