Visitors to Huntington Beach, CA, scrambled to get out of the way of a helicopter spinning out of control before it crashed into a row of trees and a building along the Pacific Coast Highway Saturday afternoon.
Five people were injured in the crash that happened around 2 p.m., according to local CBS News 2 — two people inside the chopper and three pedestrians on the ground were taken to the hospital. Their conditions were unknown.
OC Scanner posted to X, “Witnesses say there may have been a bird strike with a tail rotor. HB Fire has upgraded this to a multi casualty incident, and multiple people have been transported to area hospitals per PulsePoint.
Video showed the helicopter lowering out of the sky before it began spinning out of control and crashed in the tree line just feet from the sand that was filled with sunbathers.

California Highway Patrol told KTLA 5 that the crash was near the Cars ‘N Copters on the Coast event site being held at the beach.
