Town grants available for ‘innovation and job creation’

The town of Gorham announced the availability of the 2025 Capital Expenditure (“CapEx”) matching grant program to support Gorham businesses and farms seeking to expand and grow through a one-time purchase of a capital item, service or site expansion project.

The match grant program provides up to 50% reimbursement of a total project with a maximum award of $12,000 awarded to a single business.

The program will award grants to businesses in three distinct sectors using a competitive grant application process.

The sectors are: agriculture, agribusiness and agritourism; manufacturing and skilled trades; and

retail and food services.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on July 31. Applications will be accepted either by email (preferred) at econdev@gorham.me.us, or in-person at the Department of Community Development at the Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.

Rotary meeting set

Christine Johnson, Westbrook-Gorham Rotary secretary, announced the club’s next meeting will be Tuesday, July 29, in the dining room at Westbrook Regional Vocational Center on Stroudwater Street in Westbrook.

The guest speaker will be the CEO of Girl Scouts of Maine.

The club is seeking volunteers to paint a U.S. map and a Rotary logo at Canal Elementary School in Westbrook. Johnson said it should be a three-day project, but four days is planned, July 17-20, in the event of inclement weather or other issues.

Free gazebo concert

Maine-based cover band The Tangle will perform at a free concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Gazebo on the Lawn at Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.
