A representative for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said it took less than an hour to remove the pole and that no vehicles were impacted by the fall. WisDOT is working with the city of Green Bay to replace the pole, though it could take weeks to do.

A temporary light could be installed on the bridge for the July 4 holiday.

Ashwaubenon roads close due to damage from excessive heat

Ashwaubenon said that parts of Holmgren Way, between Pilgrim Way and Willard Drive, are closed to thru traffic due to the pavement failures caused by the excessive heat over the weekends. The high temperatures were 92 on June 21, 94 on June 22 and 92 on June 23, according to the National Weather Service Green Bay.

Joel Gregozeski, village manager of Ashwaubenon, said the village hopes it can get at least one lane in the northbound and southbound lanes open by June 26.

“We’ll be continuing to work on the remainder of the repair. We anticipate that being done in the next 7-10 days,” Gregozeski said. “If all goes and we don’t have any weather issues, that will be kind of our schedule going forward.”

He said other roads in the village were impacted by the heat, but said they are marked off with cones so the damage shouldn’t affect traffic, it will just restrict travel in specific lanes.
