Daniel Dickman loved helping with trees. He was passionate about climbing and traveled the country to clean up damage after severe weather.
The 57-year-old Dickman was cutting a tree on Aug. 7 in Pulaski Township, about four miles east of Harding in Morrison County, Minnesota, when a cut section of a tree swung unexpectedly, hit the tree trunk and the trunk broke. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that Dickman was about 37 feet in the tree when it broke.

First responders attempted life-saving measures after Dickman’s fall, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.
An obituary posted by the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz states Dickman is a tree trimmer, a career he started in the 1980s. Although he lived in Hillman, he grew up in Eagan and St. Paul.
Dickman also enjoyed being out in nature. According to the obituary, he also enjoyed fishing and taking care of animals. He often took in stray cats and dogs who needed help.

“Dan The Man would always be there to lend a hand if anyone needed help,” the obituary states. “He was a good friend and a loving son and brother who will be missed by all who knew him.”
A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 11 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, according to the obituary.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Hillman Area Rescue Team, Sullivan Lake First Response Team, Pierz Fire Department, North Air Care and Onamia Ambulance responded to the incident.
