Two Greenville men remain jailed following months-long drug distribution investigation

Two Greenville men arrested on Friday following a drug distribution investigation remained behind bars at the Hunt County jail on Sunday.

Jerrell Lee Brookins, 33, and Tevin Lee Brookins, 32, were reached charged with manufacture/delivery of controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Additionally, Jerrell Brookins is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jerrell Brookins’ bond was set at $682,500 on all charges while Tevin Brookins’ bond was set at $622,500.

According to Greenville police, multiple narcotics and a firearm were found during the execution of a search warrant Friday at a home in the 4100 block of Park Street.

The warrant followed an investigation that began earlier this year into suspected methamphetamine distribution from the residence. The investigation was led by Greenville PD detectives with assistance from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, Greenville officers and deputies from the Hunt County and Wood County sheriff’s offices executed the warrant at the residence. During the search, investigators seized methamphetamine, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, PCP, marijuana, hydrocodone, alprazolam (Xanax) and a pistol.

Both men have lengthy arrest records in Hunt County.

Dating to 2009, Jerrell Brookins has been arrested multiple times for assault, criminal trespass, deadly conduct, theft of property, marijuana possession, failure to identify, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, burglary of a habitation, evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.

His most recent arrest came in 2021 evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, theft of property, DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Tevin Brookins’ arrest record dates to 2010 and includes assault causing bodily injury and theft of property. His most recent arrest was in November 202 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
