Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shootings on July 10 that left two people, including a young child, dead.
The first shooting, which took place on the 9100 block of N. 75th St. at approximately 9:30 p.m., killed a 4-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating what led to the shooting but said they are not currently seeking any suspects in the incident.
The shooting of the child was at least the ninth this year, according to data from the Milwaukee Homicide Review Commission updated to include incidents through May 25. Twenty-three other children or teenagers have been the victims of nonfatal shooting, the data shows.
Just over 30 minutes later, at 10:12 p.m., a 39-year-old sustained fatal gunshot wounds in a shooting on the 4200 block of N. 51st Blvd.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and they currently have a suspect in custody.
Anyone with any information regarding either shooting is asked to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or P3 Tips.
