A pair of Peoria establishments were cited for failing an underage compliance check conducted Wednesday by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.
Tequilaria, located at 3504 N. Prospect Road, and the Walmart at 8915 N. Allen Road, each were found to have failed the compliance check, which was conducted by the ILCC in conjunction with the Peoria Police Department.

The ILCC recruits underage participants from local high schools and colleges, sending them out on random visits to liquor stores, restaurants and bars to check for ongoing compliance with state and local liquor laws. A focus is placed on communities found to have a high incidence of underage liquor sales.
In total, the ILCC checked 18 establishments in Peoria for their compliance with local liquor laws, with 16 of them passing the checks. They are as follows:
Liquor Spot at 525 N. Western Ave.
Campustown Liquor at 1200 W. Main St.
CVS Pharmacy at 1200 W. Main St.
Main Street Liquors at 615 W. Main St.
In-N-Out Grocery and Liquor at 305 Wayne St.
Tony’s Market at 2621 NE Adams St.
Short Stop Food and Liquors at 1302 E. Frye Ave.
The Aldi grocery store at 9129 N. Allen Road
The Huck’s locations at 1415 W. Alta Road, 7225 N. Allen Road and 3819 N. War Memorial Drive
The Walgreens at 10613 N. Knoxville Ave.
The Kroger grocery store at 9219 N. Lindbergh Drive
The Circle K locations at 7815 N. University Ave. and 2427 W. Northland Ave.
Sherman Liquors at 3801 N. Sterling Ave.
CVS, Aldi and Huck’s on War Memorial Drive each had prior incidents of failing liquor control checks, with Huck’s having failed three times in the past. All passed this round of compliance checks, according to the ILCC.
Those who fail the checks are charged with a misdemeanor and required to pay a $500 fine. They can also be subject to a suspension or revocation of their liquor license.
