Two sentenced on felony charges in Southeast District Court

Jun. 7—JAMESTOWN — Two people were sentenced recently on felony charges in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.

Lexys Jo Griffith, 22, Buchanan, North Dakota, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in jail/correctional facility, a Class A felony, possession of a controlled substance in jail/correctional facility and theft of property, Class B felonies, prohibited acts A/controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C felony, and criminal trespass and carrying a concealed firearm or weapon, Class A misdemeanors.

Griffith was accused of possessing and delivering methamphetamine while in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center from April 9-14; possessing methamphetamine and items used with methamphetamine with previous convictions in 2021, entering a garage when not licensed or privileged to do so and concealing a switchblade knife on April 9 and taking and/or illegitimately keeping a vehicle valued at more than $10,000 but less than $50,000 from Oct. 12-13, 2023.

Judge James Shockman sentenced Griffith to 68 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 49 days served. Shockman placed Griffith on 18 months supervised probation and ordered her to submit to fingerprints. Griffith was also ordered to pay a $35 indigent defense application fee, $25 victim-witness fee and $440 restitution.

A Class A felony is punishable by 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by 360 days in prison and $3,000 fine.

Roceal Blanton Houston, 41, Moorhead, Minnesota, pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of personal identifying information, a Class B felony.

Houston was accused of using without authorization or consent someone’s personal identifying information to obtain a credit card to make or attempt to make one or more purchases with a value of more than $1,000 on May 21, 2017.

Shockman sentenced Houston to 60 days in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for 60 days served. Shockman also ordered Houston to pay $2,077 restitution.
