Victim identified in Hayes Township shooting death

GAYLORD — The victim in the June 12 shooting death that occurred in Otsego County’s Hayes Township has been identified.

The suspect, 70-year-old Michael Haley, was arraigned on June 13 on a homicide charge in 87-A District Court. He is accused of shooting to death 64-year-old Russell William Delonge in a home both men shared on Smugglers Pass Road, according to court records.

Haley appeared before Judge Kevin Hesselink, who entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and set bail at $100,000 cash or surety while also approving a court-appointed attorney to represent him.

A preliminary examination in the case is scheduled for June 26 before Hesselink.
