Many people want to connect with nature and go camping, but maybe they aren’t a fan of not having a bathroom or sleeping on the ground. Glamping can be a good compromise and there are plenty of great spots in Connecticut.
At Finnegan’s Farm, West in New Milford, not only can you stay in a luxurious yurt complete with a queen-sized bed, outdoor shower and hammock, but you can visit with all of their animals. Guests can even feed the animals upon request. There is also a chapel on the grounds for meditation, prayer and reflection. Outside propane grills are available to have a cook out along with a smokeless fire pit with firewood to watch the stars.
Finnegan’s is a 17-acre family-run farm that dates back to the late 1700s. When Bill and Amy Finnegan took over the property in 2012, their mission was to be “good stewards of the land by utilizing organic and permaculture farming techniques. Second, to serve as a sanctuary to family, friends and guests and give them an opportunity to reconnect with nature, animals and each other,” according to their website.
