Warmest weather so far this year moves in this week

Must read

After a blast of winter last weekend, much warmer weather is moving back into New Mexico. Record high temperatures are likely by this weekend.

Temperatures continued a warming trend all across New Mexico Monday afternoon despite high temperatures still being slightly cooler than average. This warming trend will continue into Tuesday, with both warmer low and high temperatures. Highs will be back up to around average for the beginning of April Tuesday afternoon, with a very light westerly breeze that could gust up to 25 mph in eastern New Mexico. Even warmer temperatures move in Wednesday, with Albuquerque seeing it’s first chance to get to 80° this year.

A weak cold front will move into eastern New Mexico Wednesday night, bringing slightly cooler temperatures to the eastern half of the state Thursday afternoon. The other half of New Mexico will continue the warming trend. If Albuquerque doesn’t get to 80° on Wednesday, it looks almost certain on Thursday.

The warming trend continues again all across New Mexico Friday and into the weekend. Several record high temperatures are likely Saturday afternoon, with southeast New Mexico climbing into the 90s for the first time this year, and Albuquerque warming up to just a few degrees shy of 90°! Breezy winds will return this weekend as well, with a few wind gusts up to 35 mph. The warm weather will continue into early next week.
