An 88-year-old Washington motorcyclist died July 17 in a crash with a log truck on Highway 22, Oregon State Police said.
OSP responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at about 4:12 p.m. July 17.
Police said David Peter Jorgensen, of Oak Harbor, Washington, was riding a Kawasaki EJ650 motorcycle north on Kings Valley Highway and had stopped at the intersection with Highway 22.
Jorgensen attempted to cross the highway and hit the side of a westbound Kenworth log truck, driven by a 60-year-old Sheridan man, police said.
Jorgensen was pronounced dead at the scene. The log truck driver was uninjured, police said.
Highway 22 was impacted for about five hours while police investigated the crash. The Oregon Department of Transportation reported the highway had reopened at about 8:52 p.m.
